Most strategies require cooperation with other survivors to bolster your chances of survival. Living in groups is safer and it allows division of labor - you don’t have to be your own doctor, farmer, gunsmith, and salvager. Preparing
Have your bag, car or bike, supplies, and map of where you’re going ready before hand. Keep the supplies up to date along with map. NEVER leave any stone unturned in a house. Stay in a group
Leaving your group could probably be the worst and most dangerous thing to do; if you leave your group there is a major chance you could get separated, and getting separated could lead to getting lost. Once you’re lost, by yourself, and alone in an apocalyptic-plague situation, a hoard of zombies could ambush you at any time.
Only use your gun if necessary
Guns are loud, and bullets could be hard to find. If there’s only 1-4 zombies, it is unnecessary to use your gun. Use a melee weapon instead. (Swords, Large hammers, shovels, sharp thick sticks, hatchets/axes, etc.) Because of the loud sound guns let off, shooting only a few zombies could be dangerous. It could attract more zombies and then you’re screwed.

Bike using and sword using.
I have to say that a bike could come in handy in a zombie apocalypse. i mean, the gas never runs out, they are very light and start very quick.
Then i would like to say something about swords. those shoukld really be youre primairy weapon, with the only thing to do is sharpen it and hack ALL the zombies. guns only for emergency.
If your hungry you could always stock up to protein supplements. It will help with fatigued muscles. It has a very long shelf life too.

There are a lot of things that will be going on at once- but you need to think strategically before making a decision all of a sudden. (I recently planned this out with my family.)

Remember guns kill but so do blades. I don’t mean little pocket knifes. I mean machetes and sword. Best Zombie Gun
If you are looking for a good gun there are three main rules.
1. Is there a need for it and if so what is it.
2. IS it light enough to run with a heavy pack. You will definitely have to be able to run with it when a large mob of zombies or other humans chase you.

Just remember fire isn’t a head shot. One its burns but takes a long time to disable the zombie if it does. And most of the time fire will NOT kill a zombie. So always shoot it to be safe. And Molotov cocktails while easy to make are utterly useless because it will draw the zombie to you while it is completely engulfed in flames so it will possibly burn you then zombiefy you. A Question: Why does no one think of Molotov...
If there are large groups of infected, or zombies or walkers or whatever, why not do a standard PPA? Assuming you have not been an idiot and drawn their attention, would it not be a good idea to try to get them to congregate, like around a bait of some kind (car alarm, etc), and then shower them with molotov cocktails? you wouldn’t need to use valuable gas, just turpentine, or paint thinner...

Avoid cities, many people means many zombies. Unless nessecary, when you need food etc., you enter a city.
Rules:
RULE 1: Aim for the head, and you won’t be dead.
